RAKIBUL HAQ AMIL
Rakibul Haque Amil is the founder of the People for Animal Welfare Foundation (PAW Foundation). An architect and visual artist by profession, Amil has been deeply moved by the suffering of animals since childhood. Over time, he came to understand that compassion alone is not enough to create lasting change—real impact requires organized initiatives, science‑based management, and collective action with people at the center.
On this journey, Amil found his closest partner in both life and work in his wife, Dr. Tarana Hossain, a medical professional who shares his commitment to animal welfare. Together, their passion inspired friends and fellow advocates, leading to the formation of PAW Foundation with a group of like‑minded companions determined to act where others remained silent.
Amil firmly believes that every animal has the right to live with dignity, safety, and love. Under his leadership, PAW Foundation’s work spans emergency rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, and long‑term advocacy—alongside efforts to influence policy and promote stronger animal welfare systems in Bangladesh.
A central pillar of his vision is coexistence: fostering a society where humans and animals live in balance, and where people recognize their ethical responsibility toward all living beings. Through community engagement, education, and legal reform, Amil continues to work toward embedding compassion within Bangladesh’s social fabric.
Over the past decade, PAW Foundation has rescued and rehabilitated more than 790 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, monkeys, and other vulnerable species—each life reinforcing the belief that change is possible when empathy is paired with action.
Amil’s ultimate dream is a Bangladesh where every individual stands for animals and the environment—and where one day, organizations like PAW Foundation are no longer needed, because the nation itself has become a safe, humane, and compassionate haven for all.
Creating a Sustainable Society
Animal Rescue
We rescue injured, abused, and at-risk community animals within our operational capacity. Timely intervention protects animals from suffering while reducing public health and safety risks.
Health Care
Our veterinarians provide essential healthcare to both community and companion animals. Preventive care, treatment, and vaccination help control zoonotic diseases and safeguard public well-being.
Rehabilitation
We offer temporary and long-term shelter for street animals recovering from injury or illness. Wherever possible, we work to reintegrate animals safely into communities or place them in loving, permanent homes.
Advocacy & Humane Education
We support community caregivers by promoting responsible care for street dogs and cats. Through humane education and awareness programs, we foster compassion and coexistence between people and animals.
Social Movement
We raise our collective voice for the voiceless—mobilizing citizens, communities, and institutions to recognize animal welfare as a social responsibility and demand accountability from authorities.
Legal Action
We pursue legal action to protect community animals and wildlife. Our legal team supports citizens facing animal cruelty cases and works to strengthen enforcement of animal welfare laws.
